Course Overview
Perth Training Institute offers a WorkSafe WA approved HSR Course designed for elected Health and Safety Representatives (HSRs) across Western Australia. This five-day program equips participants with the knowledge and skills to fulfill their responsibilities under the Work Health and Safety Act 2020 and associated regulations.
The course covers:
- WHS Act 2020 Training
- Work Health and Safety (General) Regulations 2022
- Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations 2022 (for mining sector participants)
Elected HSRs are entitled to attend this course and receive paid leave from their employer.

Literacy, Numeracy and Participation
To successfully complete Health and Safety Representative training, participants should:
Literacy: Have basic reading and writing skills to understand course materials, legislation, and complete written activities.
Numeracy: Be able to perform simple calculations (e.g., interpreting data, understanding risk scores).
Active Participation: Engage in discussions, group activities, and practical exercises throughout the course.

Pre-Enrolment Requirement
PTI requires all prospective students to complete a Language, Literacy, Numeracy, and Digital Literacy (LLND) self-assessment before enrolment is finalised.
This screening is conducted online and takes approximately 10–15 minutes. PTI uses LLND results to identify support needs and offer reasonable adjustments, such as additional tutorials, mentoring, or modified delivery formats.
This ensures students are set up for success from the start.
Any reasonable adjustments must not compromise the requirements of the relevant training product and the integrity, equity and fairness of assessment.
